Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our mental health team at a reputable private hospital in Hurstville.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care for patients with acute and chronic mental health needs, work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care, support patients and families in decision-making and discharge planning, supervise and mentor enrolled nurses and assistant in nursing where required, contribute to clinical quality, safety, and improvement initiatives, and communicate effectively particularly when discussing risks and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver safe and evidence-based nursing care for patients with acute and chronic mental health needs.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care.
  • Support patients and families in decision-making, advocacy, and discharge planning.
  • Supervise and mentor ENs and AINs where required.
  • Contribute to clinical quality, safety, and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide clear and confident communication, particularly when discussing risks and patient safety.
Essential Requirements:
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in mental health nursing.
  • Strong clinical and risk management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a private hospital setting with professionalism and teamwork.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in drug and alcohol nursing.
  • Previous private mental health hospital experience.
  • Confidence in patient advocacy and communicating risks.
