The primary purpose of the AIN at the Forensic Hospital is to provide support in the delivery of high-quality mental health care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role involves direct care activities as outlined in the nursing care plan, contributing to accurate health care documentation, and maintaining effective communication with patients and the health care team. Staff are expected to embody the NSW Health CORE values and adhere to Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (JHFMHN) policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements- Currently undertaking and have completed one or more years of a nursing degree and/or are at Certificate III level of the Australian Qualifications Framework using the national competency standards from the Community Services (e.g., Certificate III in Health Services Assistance from TAFE NSW).
The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW. The facility provides specialist inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional and high-risk civil patients. A multidisciplinary team supports care across the clinical spectrum from high dependency and acute care to long stay and rehabilitation care.
Training and Benefits- Mandatory two-week, full-time orientation for all new staff at Forensic Hospital (all days paid). Next intake dates: 13 October and 24 November 2025.
