About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Support Specialist to join our Child and Family Intensive Support Service (CaFIS) team in Wadeye. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing critical support for families of children who may be at risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide group and individual support to families from a child-centered approach, promoting positive approaches to parenting.
  • Build strong, lasting connections with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Support families to access the assistance they need, when they need it.
  • Actively encourage vulnerable, detached or fearful families to engage with our programs.
  • Establish relationships with the local community to mobilize and build capacity.
  • Collect and record data.
Requirements
  • Qualification in Counselling, Social Work or relevant field (minimum of a Cert IV).
  • Previous experience in family support working with high-risk families.
  • Experience working with families from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
  • Ability to keep accurate records of work undertaken, including entering and maintaining information in an electronic database.
  • Experience working in rural and remote communities would be preferable.
