About the Project

We're delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland, an innovative project converting a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility.

The project involves transforming two existing mine pits into reservoirs, with significant underground infrastructure construction, including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels. This will allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off-peak periods.

This project received funding from ARENA's Advancing Renewables Program and is a game-changer for the clean energy industry worldwide as it's an entirely new approach to large-scale energy storage.

We're currently recruiting for a talented Quantity Surveyor to deliver this iconic project, based out of the Brisbane office with site visits required monthly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tracking, monitoring, and controlling costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Interpreting specifications and standards to assess their impact on project costs.
  • Using cost control models to increase profitability by identifying variances between budgeted and actual costs.
  • Analyzing actual costs against planned costs and forecasting final costs versus budget.
  • Creating tender event schedules for procurement programs.
  • Reconciling budgets and tenders, managing change, and analyzing variances.
  • Quantifying and costing construction work.
  • Preparing Bills of Quantities and conducting quantity take-offs.
  • Collaborating with project managers and engineers to manage risks and opportunities effectively.
Requirements for Success
  • A tertiary or trade qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working on infrastructure projects within the construction industry.
