**Job Overview**

You may have experience with complex safety projects, but this role will challenge you to build a legacy.

We're looking for an expert who takes health and safety as seriously as we do. You'll be part of a team that delivers impactful health and safety outcomes so that everyone goes home safely every day.

This role involves developing and implementing tailored rail safety standards for Sydney Metro's expanding network, including Metro West, Western Sydney Airport, and Southwest Metro.

As a Safety Expert, you'll provide expert technical advice, drive continuous improvement of safety management systems, and govern compliance with rail safety requirements.

Your goal will be to lead a proactive safety culture that prioritises workforce and community wellbeing. You'll implement strategic initiatives to proactively manage and mitigate rail safety risks. In this role, you'll embed systems that ensure compliance with rail safety legislation and standards.

You'll collaborate with stakeholders and authorities to achieve strategic objectives. Your focus will be on driving improvement in safety performance and supporting project delivery.

This is a fixed-term role for up to 22 months, requiring attendance at the office. Flexible work arrangements may be available following agreement with the Director Health and Safety Technical.

  • You'll need a proven ability to navigate complex safety challenges in major infrastructure projects.
  • You should have the ability to build confidence and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A strong commitment to safety and the ability to foster a proactive safety culture are essential.
  • Extensive expertise in rail safety legislation, standards, and best practices is required.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills are necessary.

Requirements

  • Tertiary Health and Safety or engineering qualifications, or equivalent experience demonstrating your capabilities.
  • Extensive experience in the rail industry or related rail infrastructure construction, ideally within NSW.
