The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Principal Data Scientist role based in our Macquarie office to lead the development and integration of data science capabilities across R&D. This individual will guide the development of data strategies, mentor a growing community of data scientists, and drive key cross-functional initiatives that enhance our product ecosystem.

  • Mentoring a cross-functional community of R&D data scientists through technical guidance and support
  • Developing and implementing AI-enabled features across medical products and services
  • E nsuring compliance with Good Machine Learning Practices (GMLP) and relevant AI regulations in a regulated medical device environment
  • Shaping Cochlear's data science strategy in alignment with product and research innovation roadmaps

This role offers the chance to significantly contribute to Cochlear's global innovation roadmap through advanced data science. The successful candidate will be integral in transforming real-world insights into breakthrough solutions that improve the lives of people with hearing loss.

About You

To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Data science experience in the Healthcare industry (>5y), preferably within medical devices for chronic disease, with proven research credentials
  • Technical expertise in machine learning, statistical methods, and data pipeline architecture
  • High creativity and a strong track record of innovation
  • Strong planning and execution abilities in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
