About the Role

STEPS Group is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to join their leadership team and drive growth on a national scale.

As a national, independent not-for-profit organisation, STEPS Group works with people living with disability or experiencing disadvantage.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the processes and service delivery of State and Federal Service Contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Board, Managing Director, and Executive Leadership team to shape and execute the organisational vision and strategic direction of the STEPS Group of Companies.
  2. National Team Management: Lead and manage a nationwide team of professionals committed to STEPS Group's mission.
  3. Contract Management: Oversee and navigate the performance of state and federal government contracts, ensuring compliance and effective operations.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with Federal and State government departments, making a productive contribution to sector discussions and supporting service excellence.
  5. Commercial Acumen: Leverage commercial knowledge to drive organisational success.
  6. Tendering and Delivery: Oversee tendering processes, contract timetables, and delivery to meet organisational objectives.
  7. Risk Management and Governance: Demonstrate a well-developed understanding of risk management, technology governance, innovation, and strong governance.
  8. Performance Measurement: Significant experience in building effective reporting processes that measure the right things to optimise the performance of the organisation.
  9. Culture and Accountability: Build and maintain performance structures and cultures that promote excellence and accountability.
  10. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster a consultative approach to strategy development and reputation management, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders.
  11. Communication: Exhibit exceptional communication skills, adept at crafting and delivering appropriate messages to diverse audiences.
  12. Community Sector Understanding: Demonstrate contemporary understanding of issues facing the community sector, particularly the disability sector.
  13. Disability Experience: Demonstrated experience of working with people living with a disability will be highly regarded.
Requirements
  1. Proven Experience: Proven experience as a Chief Executive Officer or Senior Executive in a not-for-profit or commercial organisation, with essential experience in managing state and federal government funded contracts.
  2. Tertiary Qualification: Tertiary qualification is ideal in Business, Commerce, or Social Sciences.
  3. High-Performance Culture: Experience in building and maintaining high-performance cultures.
  4. Consultative and Communication Skills: Exceptional consultative and communication skills.
  5. Leadership Approach: Ability to clearly articulate strategy, and with a hands-on approach to leadership, bring people along to understand how performance is delivered.
  6. Driver Licence and Police Clearance: Hold a current Driver Licence and have the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
  7. Fit and Proper Person Test: Must be able to be approved by ASQA and all government agencies for fit and proper person test.
