Job Title

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Animal Care Specialist to join our team at Monarto Safari Park. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of animal husbandry and welfare in our native species enclosures.

As part of our Life Sciences team, you will work closely with other dedicated professionals to provide exceptional care for our animals. Your duties will include:

  • Preparing and providing food to animals according to established diets and feeding schedules.
  • Cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures, exhibits, and food preparation areas to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and safety.
  • Providing animals with items required to meet their behavioural needs and promoting enrichment activities to enhance their well-being.
  • Observing and reporting on animal behaviour and changes to their condition, and contributing to the implementation of training and conditioning programs.
  • Participating in formal presentations and 'Keeper Talks' to engage with visitors and promote conservation awareness.
  • Working safely and efficiently in accordance with established procedures to protect animal security, personal safety, and the safety of colleagues and the public.
Requirements
  • Certificate III in Captive Animals or equivalent experience in a similar field.
  • Proven experience in a practical animal-related role, preferably in a zoo or wildlife setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Workplace Health & Safety principles and processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Ability to drive manual vehicles and participate in 7-day rotating rosters.
