We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aboriginal Health Practitioner to join our team at the Red Lily Health Board Aboriginal Corporation.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary health team, providing quality primary health care services to Aboriginal people in a culturally safe and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality primary health care to individuals, families, and the community, including outstations as required.
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call roster to meet community emergency needs.
  • Work with minimal supervision in partnership with other team members to facilitate the delivery of culturally safe health services.
  • Provide a link between Community culture and practices and deliver health service programs.
  • Participate in planning, delivery, and evaluation of health education and health promotion programs to promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Provide or assist in the provision of emergency care within professional capabilities.
  • Ensure all documentation, records, and electronic health information systems are maintained to ensure continuity and confidentiality of client care.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and review of the local Health Centre Service plan.
Requirements
  • Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Healthcare Practitioner and relevant postgraduate qualifications.
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability and desire to work within a multidisciplinary team to bring about positive change in health outcomes.
  • Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, remote area health, principles of primary healthcare, and relevant legislation governing work practice.
  • Hold (or eligible for) Police Clearance Certificate and Ochre Card.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call 24-hour roster.
