We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and development of our authentication experience. As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining high-performance, scalable APIs and improving deployment processes, operations procedures, and systems metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build backend systems that power our authentication experience, while maintaining empathy towards our customers, developers, and users.
  • Build and improve our APIs so that they are as scalable, performant, and intuitive as they can be.
  • Own the architecture and development of system components to improve monitoring, alerting, and stability with compliance, with security in mind.
  • Build upon the foundation of our existing systems to support and enhance the productivity of the entire engineering team across the globe.
  • Develop internal SLOs and SLIs to drive service reliability and to support external SLAs.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience working as a backend engineer in a cross-functional team (design, frontend, backend, and operations) with strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in Python (Go/Ruby is a plus).
  • Strong foundation in API design, distributed system design, and backend implementation.
  • Experience in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, etc.).
  • Production experience in SQL and database design using My SQL, Postgre SQL, or similar.

We are looking for a team player with a startup mentality, who is self-motivated, high-integrity, pragmatic, resourceful, and can execute under pressure. The company is fully remote, though we would prefer this role specifically to be in a timezone where we can have more hours overlap with the North American team members due to the need for frequent communication and collaboration.
