Environmental Specialist

A pivotal role exists for an individual with a passion to drive environmental sustainability and stewardship.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring day-to-day compliance with environmental specifications, legislation, approvals, and other relevant environmental requirements.
  • Support the implementation of environmental management and sustainability measures as defined by the project's Environmental Management Plan, contractual and legislative requirements.
  • Participate in project planning and risk assessment activities to identify and control environmental risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with identification and implementation of sustainability initiatives.
  • Supports the planning, inspection, and monitoring of construction activities linked to environmental constraints/risks such as erosion & sediment control, vegetation clearing, night works, heritage protection, and contamination management.
  • Conduct regular environmental and sustainability inspections and monitoring requirements as defined in the Project Environmental Management Plans (i.e., noise, vibration, water, and air quality, biodiversity).
  • Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance against environment and sustainability requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in inspection and monitoring of construction activities linked to environmental constraints/risks.
  • Experience in marine ecology would be highly beneficial.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and related software packages, with proficiency in Excel a must.
