Kickstart Your Career in Metal Recycling – Trainee/Cadet Program
This is a unique chance to kickstart your career with the world's largest metal recycler – and learn how a global business really works.
Through our Trainee/Cadet Program, you'll learn the industry from the ground up and grow into a Trading Representative (Mobile Buyer).
It's a proven launchpad that's developed leaders across Sims Limited – including our current Chief Operating Officer.
About The Role
Based at our Wingfield site, you'll get hands-on experience across various departments in a structured development program designed to prepare you for a long-term career in scrap metal trading.
You'll gain real industry knowledge, commercial experience, and receive personal mentoring to help you thrive in our fast-paced industry.
What You'll Do
- Rotate through key business areas to learn how we source, process, and trade metal
- Support the Commercial Team with pricing, customer service, and admin tasks
- Assist in achieving commercial targets and building customer relationships
- Learn to assess, price, and purchase scrap metal as part of your development into a Trading Representative
- A structured, hands-on training program with clear goals
- Regular mentoring from experienced managers and senior leaders
- Exposure to world-class recycling systems and sustainable business practices
- Ongoing online and on-the-job training
- A supportive team culture that values initiative and growth

- Confidence in your ability to develop & acquire the necessary skills to become an effective trading team member
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- You will be highly motivated, able to adhere to strict deadlines and work in a dynamic team environment
- Any business, commercial or customer service experience is desirable
- Current driver's licence (required)
