Workshop Manager Role

Our organization is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead our workshop operations and drive continuous improvement.

Job Description:

  • As the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the workflow in the workshop to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.

  • You will contribute to the development and execution of the overall business strategy, focusing on process optimization and productivity improvement.

  • Direct and indirect reports will benefit from your ongoing feedback, mentoring, and coaching to enhance their skill development and continuous improvement.

  • You will oversee all HR responsibilities for direct and indirect reports, including recruitment, training, performance management, and workplace health and safety.

  • Furthermore, you will direct and oversee the formulation and implementation of approved business plans, operating plans, and budgets within the Yatala operations.

  • Monitoring costs and performance against budget will be one of your key responsibilities.

  • You will provide technical support and advice to the team, including administration, sales, and operations.

  • Reviewing inspection reports and service quotations to ensure quality standards are met will also be a part of your duties.

  • Ensuring repairs meet service quality standards through regular inspections throughout the repair process is crucial.

  • Attending scheduled meetings as required, including daily pre-starts, toolboxes, and works in progress, is necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A current and valid Australian Motor Driver's Licence is essential.

  • A proven track record in managing workshop activities is required.

  • Understanding of HSEQ requirements within an engineering workshop environment is vital.

  • Solid knowledge of industrial safety legislation, issues, general requirements, and practices is necessary.

  • Extensive undercarriage knowledge, especially mining, with minimum 5 years' experience is expected.

  • Ability to lead, manage, and motivate teams and contribute towards achieving overall strategies is crucial.

  • Relationship development and negotiation skills are required.

  • Commercial awareness with the ability to analyse data, compile reports, and quotations is necessary.

  • High-level written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to engage with a wide range of people are required.

  • Customer service skills are essential.
