Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to deliver high-quality engineering services for water and wastewater projects.

This role will primarily involve supporting the design phase of projects, however there will also be the opportunity to work on water infrastructure projects across the region.

You will work closely with senior engineers on projects and collaborate with partners and clients to ensure successful delivery, while also contributing to the growth of the mechanical engineering discipline for the water sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver mechanical components for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams and partners, contributing to the planning and execution of water supply, distribution, water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Contribute to the growth of the mechanical engineering discipline within the water sector through technical excellence and quality project delivery.
  • Play an active role in developing proposals and bids, supporting business development activities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of work, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Represent the company at external meetings, and participate in the development of internal projects and activities.
  • Participate in internal knowledge-sharing initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements:

  • A recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field), with relevant experience in the water sector.
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions, with a focus on achieving chartership.
  • Proven experience delivering concept and detailed designs for water-related projects in a consulting environment.
  • Preferably achieve M1 or M2 competency status within Sydney Water's Competency Requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to tackle challenges, identify solutions, and contribute to business growth.
