About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Officer to join our team at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide expert legal advice on energy law matters, including regulatory and infrastructure-related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal services to the Department, focusing on energy law matters, including regulatory and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Specialize in providing transactional, commercial, and regulatory legal advice relating to the electricity sector in NSW and matters related to the Roadmap and NSW Electricity Strategy.
  • Collaborate with and influence across all levels of the organization to ensure optimal engagement and knowledge sharing.
  • Undertake thorough research and analysis to provide options, make recommendations on complex matters, and develop solutions to support decision-making and achieve positive client outcomes.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: energy law, commercial law, administrative law, or experience in the policy-making and legislative process.
  • Admitted or qualified for admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in the Supreme Court of NSW and hold, or be eligible to hold, an NSW Practicing Certificate.
