Remote Census Engagement Manager Role

We are seeking a skilled Remote Census Engagement Manager to join our team for the 2026 Census.

About the Position
  • Maximise participation in the Census by building strong relationships with stakeholders and community members in regional and remote areas.
  • Collaborate with Census operational teams to achieve successful outcomes through targeted engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement Census engagement strategies for assigned regions.
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement activities via the Stakeholder Management System.
  • Design, update, and review engagement plans for your area of responsibility.
  • Promote Census participation through community visits, promotional activities, and presentations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key service providers and community groups.
  • Work collaboratively with other Census staff in your area, considering cultural sensitivities and local intelligence.
  • Secure support for the Census from Local Government and community organisations.
  • Provide assistance in-field when required for Census operational activities.
  • Ensure a safe working environment, including while working from home or travelling in remote areas.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as timesheets and other duties as directed.
  • Store Census materials securely.
  • Provide regular updates to the Remote Operations Management team.
Essential Qualifications
  • Proven experience working with or advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to build relationships with a range of service providers, communicate effectively, and develop strong working relationships.
  • Effective communication skills to present information to various groups or communities.
  • Capacity to work independently, prioritise tasks with minimal guidance, and make decisions autonomously.
  • Strong local knowledge and ability to navigate maps.
