Court Services Advisor

The Court Services team plays a pivotal role in managing specialist programs and promoting quality service delivery for the department across a state-wide basis. This involves providing authoritative advice, guidance on complex cases, application of quality assurance processes, monitoring of practice standards, maintaining enduring partnerships with stakeholders, and professional development of departmental staff.

Our team is seeking a temporary full-time Court Services Advisor to join our QCAT team. The QCAT team manages the interface between QCAT and Child Safety in relation to review applications, assists departmental officers with advice around reviewable decision letters, presents information to QCAT, and participates in proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high-quality legal support services are delivered on behalf of the Queensland Government.
  • Manage the interface of departmental matters, other than child protection proceedings, before courts and the QCAT in accordance with legislation, policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Provide information, advice, and consultancy to departmental staff and other key stakeholders on a state-wide basis in relation to policy, practice, and procedures relevant to the departments participation in courts and QCAT.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in court environment and ability to negotiate, advocate, provide advice, and interact with clients and stakeholders in a complex legal environment.
  • High-level knowledge of child and family court processes and relevant legislation, policies, procedures, protocols, practices, and trends.
