We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead our electrical design team.

Electrical Engineering Opportunities

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer with a passion for sustainable energy and cutting-edge technologies. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the electrical design of innovative energy systems across the full project lifecycle from sales support through to commissioning.

About the Role
  • Develop detailed, cost-effective electrical engineering designs that meet project specifications
  • Create specifications, calculations, and equipment selection
  • Guide junior engineers while promoting a strong knowledge-sharing culture
  • Lead studies such as Load Flow, Fault Analysis, G5/5 Harmonics, Voltage Flicker (P28), and G99 compliance
  • Contribute technical expertise during the sales process, including reviewing RFQs and supporting client engagement
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and partners to ensure high-quality delivery
  • Liaise with Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers to align designs across disciplines
  • Lead HAZOPs, design reviews, and risk assessments
  • Drive standardisation, innovation, and value engineering
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or HNC/HND with equivalent experience)
  • At least 5 years' experience in electrical design within power generation or renewable energy sectors (1-25MW)
  • Strong command of LV and MV system design, control, and instrumentation
  • Proficient in MS Office and electrical analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT)
  • Eligible to work in the UK and hold a valid UK/EU driving licence
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration (e.g., IET)
  • Knowledge of DNO/G99 requirements, NERS accreditation, and HV substation design
  • Experience in CHP systems or hybrid power applications
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, PLCs, SCADA, and grid connection processes
