Environmental Planning Director

This is a fixed term opportunity to lead the department’s nature planning efforts, driving strategic outcomes and promoting environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team to deliver high-quality environmental data and products that support regulatory decision-making and improved environmental outcomes.
- Develop and maintain partnerships across government, academia, industry, and community stakeholders to foster collaboration and achieve shared goals.
- Provide guidance and support to scientific and policy staff, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Represent the department at interagency forums, conferences, and workshops, contributing to biodiversity policy development and reform.
- Communicate and promote policy initiatives effectively through briefings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure branch outcomes are aligned with departmental strategic goals and are delivered on time.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, policies, and government processes.
- Extensive experience in strategic environmental policy and delivering evidence-based technical advice.
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven project management capability with a track record of delivering complex initiatives.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams.
