About the Role
Liaise with the Care Manager and Residential Services Manager to direct and deliver high-quality nursing care to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise support provision for daily living in accordance with each resident's care/service plan.
- Lead and promote social and physical engagement in all resident interactions.
- Assess residents' conditions and functional abilities, and ensure risks are identified, managed, and evaluated, discussed with relevant staff/residents or representatives, and included in their care and service planning.
- Evaluate and ensure optimal use of medications, monitoring for adversity, and administering in a timely and safe manner.
- Provide leadership, direction, support, mentoring, and coaching to Personal Carers, Enrolled Nurses, Hotel Service staff, Lifestyle, Maintenance, and Administration staff on each shift.
- Ensure a clear and succinct handover from shift to shift, and relevant documentation in the 7-day handover sheet correlates with the progress notes, alert notification form, care plan suggested change forms, and risk management plans.
- Ensure all staff read and comply with all policies, procedures, and work instructions relevant to them.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurses to join our Residential Care Team at SCC Bucklands Site - North Plympton.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor of Nursing with current AHPRA registration as an Registered Nurse.
- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) & Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009).
- At least 1-2 years of experience working as an Registered Nurse in an Aged Care Environment.
- Sound communication skills with a level of English literacy that enables you to speak in a manner that older people can understand, as well as the ability to read written instructions and to write clearly and concisely particularly in progress notes.
- Exceptional time management skills to manage own workload to meet deadlines and to support other staff.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills to balance supporting residents' desire for independence and self-determination to make their own choices against potential risks and duty of care.
- High-level understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia, including those who display challenging behaviors.
- Understanding of how to apply AN-ACC to ensure optimum levels of funding are achieved.
- Excellent contemporary best practice clinical knowledge, including of medicines used in aged care.
- Excellent knowledge of the Aged Care Standards, particularly as they relate to accreditation.
