Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement

As a key member of our senior leadership team, the Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement will play a pivotal role in shaping the public conversation about aged care in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

This influential position requires a seasoned professional who can craft compelling messages for diverse audiences, both internal and external, to enhance awareness of our work and solidify our profile in the aged care oversight landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Communication: Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to maximize the impact of our reports, reviews, and related activities on target audiences.
  • Media and Public/Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee media and stakeholder engagement, leading strategic media content and proactive engagement efforts that reflect diverse voices and educate the public.
  • Parliamentary and Ministerial Communications: Manage Parliamentary responses and ministerial correspondence, ensuring timely and effective communication with key stakeholders.
  • Content Creation: Produce high-quality content, including newsletters, social media updates, and marketing materials, that align with our brand voice and resonate with stakeholders.
  • Internal Communications: Develop and implement internal communications strategies to keep staff informed and engaged, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Crisis Communication: Provide expert advice on public relations issues during crises and develop stakeholder communication strategies to mitigate potential risks.
  • Leadership: Lead and develop a team of communications professionals, mentoring and coaching them to achieve exceptional results.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in media and communications or relevant experience in strategic communications.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing teams, building capability and driving results.
  • Experience in building and maintaining partnerships through complex or sensitive issues to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to research and analytically summarize complex information to provide high-level advice, reports, and recommendations.
  • Capacity to contribute to strategic planning by developing operational strategies in a fast-paced environment.
