Job Overview

This role is focused on leading the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects across multiple sites. As a seasoned professional, you will be responsible for overseeing every phase of the design journey to ensure technical excellence, cost efficiency, and alignment with strategic objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the design process from initial concept through to project completion.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Coordinate regulatory inputs, drive continuous improvement, and advocate for safety in design.
  • Oversee risk controls, manage external consultants, and ensure smooth project handovers into construction.

Key Qualifications:

  • Degree in civil engineering, design, or project management—or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Proven track record in leading design phases for infrastructure projects, balancing cost, timelines, and risk.
  • Ability to steer multi-disciplinary teams and integrate stakeholder needs into practical design outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of design workflows and agility to adapt to shifting project demands.
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering principles, especially in roadworks, earthworks, drainage, services, and airfield pavements.
  • Experience sourcing and managing external consultants across engineering, costing, and design.
  • Competent in using tools like Aconex, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office to keep projects on track.
  • Familiarity with 3D modelling platforms such as Revit, MicroStation, Navisworks, or Tekla.
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Substantial experience in a similar role within large-scale projects, construction, or mining.
  • White Card and a current Australian driver's licence.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to convey clear messaging and coordinate with key stakeholders and functions.
