Job Title: Waste Management Assistant

We are seeking a Waste Management Assistant to join our team at the Torquay Waste Drop Off site. As a key member of our waste management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our community members receive guidance and assistance when disposing of waste.

The successful applicant will be responsible for inspecting incoming loads, directing traffic on site as required, managing onsite litter, and responding to general customer enquiries. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, contributing to the Council's goal of reducing waste to landfill and maximising resource recovery.

This part-time role requires the successful applicant to be available to work 17 hours per week, including Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 7:55am to 12:10pm, as well as public holidays (excluding Christmas Day).

Key Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated experience in effective communication with diverse groups of people
  • Customer service experience
  • Current Victorian driver's licence
  • A current Working with Children Check
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in waste management/resource recovery operations
  • Experience in local government
