News Reporter Role

Join a dynamic and fast-moving team as a News Reporter, where you'll chase leads, uncover facts, and produce compelling television news stories that shape the national conversation.

This is a Permanent Full-time role based in Sydney. As part of a collaborative newsroom culture, you'll have the freedom to work independently and the support of a team that values bold ideas, journalistic integrity, and creativity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Pitching, researching, and producing original, high-quality news stories for broadcast
  • Working under tight deadlines to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging TV news content
  • Reporting live with confidence on breaking news events
  • Taking the lead on complex news stories, from concept to broadcast, with minimal supervision
  • Proactively sourcing and lining up stories, ensuring comprehensive and dynamic coverage

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong news judgment and a deep understanding of the TV news landscape
  • Exceptional communication skills—both on-air and behind the scenes
  • Highly motivated to cultivate contacts, with excellent networking skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate editorial decisions
  • Proven track record in television news reporting
  • In-depth knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs
  • Proficiency in non-linear editing systems, with experience in TV news production
  • Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends, to meet newsroom demands
  • Strong grasp of media law and its application in news reporting
