Medical Laboratory Support Role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to provide medical laboratory support in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the receipting and processing of specimens, including operation and maintenance of analysers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine receipting and processing of specimens
  • Pre and post analytical specimen handling
  • Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens
  • Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
  • Assisting Scientists in the Lab as required
  • Continuous learning of processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests
  • Staying up to date with processing updates
  • Respond to result, sample requirements and general queries
  • Identifying and resolving problems at the pre-analytic stage

Requirements:

  • Specimen processing and data entry experience is desirable, but not essential
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team
  • Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
  • Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential
  • Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection is desirable

Vaccination Information:

Vaccine preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement of this role. Other vaccinations based on location may be required.
