Health and Safety Officer Job Description

This is a role that requires a caring and understanding approach to support employees in their recovery from injuries.

  • As part of an established Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, you will support and enable early, safe and sustainable return to work initiatives.
  • Act as the first point of contact for stakeholders, providing advice and guidance on injury investigation and claims management processes.
  • You will manage a caseload of injury matters end to end, supporting with claims lodgement and monitoring progress.
  • Monitor employee health and develop work rehabilitation and return to work programs including suitable duties plans.
  • Engage Medical, Rehabilitation and Allied Health Professionals to support employee recovery.
  • Interpret and apply legislation relating to WorkCover claims/processes and compliance.
  • Contribute to identifying risk reduction strategies.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications in Injury Management/Insurance/Workers Compensation or Allied Health Profession or aligned are desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working in injury management (physical and non-physical) is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating safe and sustainable return to work programs including building suitable duties plans.
  • An authentic and supportive approach to stakeholder engagement is crucial.
  • Practical knowledge of Worker's Compensation and Rehabilitation legislation relevant to health and injury management is required.
  • Experience in administering and monitoring WorkCover claims/processes is necessary.
  • High levels of attention to detail and organisational skills are essential.
