Specialist Support Teacher

This is a challenging and rewarding role for an experienced educator who can make a significant impact on the lives of students with complex needs.

As a Specialist Support Teacher, you will be responsible for providing tailored education to students with disabilities, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Adapt Curriculum Materials: Create curriculum materials that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students in the Specialist Support Class.
  • Utilise Differentiated Instructional Strategies: Employ various instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
  • Ensure High-Quality Programs and Resources: Maintain high-quality programs and resources with a strong research base.
  • Employ Assistive Technologies: Utilize assistive technologies to address individual learning needs.
  • Scaffolded Support and Accommodations: Provide scaffolded support and accommodations to help students overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential.

Maintain thorough knowledge of each student's strengths, challenges, and goals. Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly to ensure attainment of learning goals.

Work closely with parents, guardians, and caregivers to understand the unique strengths, challenges, and goals of each student.

Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and community resources to maximise inclusion opportunities and support student success.

Stay informed about the latest research, trends, and best practices in special education and inclusion.

Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with disabilities.

Knowledge of Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) and experience with developing and implementing personalised plans are highly desirable.
