Role Overview

We are in search of an experienced Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) Senior Project Engineer to join our Rail Operations division in Perth.

Rail Operations is a dedicated unit within Laing O'Rourke, focusing exclusively on all facets of rail delivery. Our team comprises technical specialists who manage a substantial portfolio of projects throughout Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of overhead wiring designs and propose modifications to align with construction staging and other project constraints.
  • Oversee project activities and collaborate with subcontractors to ensure safety, timeliness, and quality in deliverables.
  • Formulate and implement management plans and controls to facilitate project execution.
  • Monitor project budgets and risk registers, advising on variations and managing financial aspects of assigned work scopes.
  • Plan, schedule, and consistently track design activities to ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes, ensuring designs are compliant with client specifications, safe, and minimize rework or defects.
  • Establish and execute management plans and controls to support project delivery.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in the Engineering/Construction sector.
  • At least 5 years' experience in railway Engineering/Construction, specifically in Overhead Wiring project roles.
  • A recognized university degree in an Engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) and progress towards Chartered Professional Engineer status with Engineers Australia or an equivalent body.
