Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced medical professional to join our team as a Air Force Medical Officer. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical services, including aviation-based services such as fitness to fly assessments and aircrew clinical health management.

About the Role

In this role, you will work closely with our Joint Health Unit Commanding Officer and other stakeholders to provide medical technical advice and support. You will also be responsible for providing medical services in an outpatient setting or as inpatient care within a hospital or medical centre.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver medical services, including aviation-based services, to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit Commanding Officer, Joint Health Command Health Centre Manager, and unit commanders.
  • Conduct fitness to fly assessments and aircrew clinical health management.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine or equivalent suitable experience and training.
  • Minimum 2 years' full-time postgraduate general practitioner experience within the last 5 years or part-time equivalent.
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development activities.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification.
  • Basic military aviation medicine course or equivalent.

About the Location

Pearce Health Centre is located on-site at Pearce RAAF base in Western Australia. It provides general medical and primary care services, along with physiotherapy, dentistry, pharmacy, and aviation medicine.
