About the Role

Mccabes is seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior associate or special counsel to join our general insurance team on a full-time basis.

This role will provide the opportunity to work across a diverse range of legally challenging and factually complex matters focusing on professional indemnity and general liability.

The work is high quality, working for one of the leading insurance partners in the country with clients based both domestically and internationally.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse caseload of professional indemnity and general liability claims, ensuring exceptional client representation and successful outcomes.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior lawyers, assisting in their professional growth and development.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings with expertise and confidence.
  • Offer ongoing legal advice and support to clients throughout the entire litigation process.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current practising certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience in liability or professional indemnity, with experience in insurance policy advice and coverage disputes.
  • Strong command of Australian tort law, civil procedure, and relevant legislation.
  • Proven ability to effectively mentor and supervise junior lawyers, fostering their growth and success.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A commercial approach and ability to articulate and negotiate effectively.
