Director of Human Resources

Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Human Resources to join our team at our Cairns waterfront hotel.
About the RoleAs a key member of our hotel's executive committee, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies to drive business growth and improve employee engagement. You will work closely with our hotel general manager and senior managers to ensure the efficient and effective management of our human resources function.
Key Responsibilities- Talent Acquisition and Onboarding: Develop and implement strategies to attract, recruit, and retain top talent in the industry.
- Learning and Development: Design and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.
- Payroll: Manage the hotel's payroll function, including processing payrolls, managing benefits, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Colleague Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to improve employee engagement, retention, and motivation.
- Industrial Relations: Manage industrial relations, including negotiations with unions, employee representation, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Compensation and Benefits: Develop and implement compensation and benefits strategies to attract and retain top talent.
- Performance Management: Develop and implement performance management systems to drive business results and improve employee performance.
- Corporate Office Reporting: Provide regular reports to the corporate office on HR-related matters, including employee engagement, retention, and performance.
- Workers Compensation: Manage workers' compensation claims and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced HR professional with a strong background in talent acquisition, learning and development, employee relations, payroll, colleague engagement, industrial relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, and corporate office reporting. You should have a strong understanding of HR best practices and be able to develop and implement strategies to drive business growth and improve employee engagement.
You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. You should also have a strong understanding of Microsoft Office and HRIS systems, including learning management systems and online databases.
