About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker to join our team at NSW Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing person-centred, evidence-based care to clients with drug and alcohol issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in collaboration with clients and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Work in therapeutic and professional relationships with clients, families, groups, and communities within the Drug & Alcohol Service.
  • Act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote culture and supporting practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment.
  • Develop and facilitate group programs and provide drug and alcohol counselling services.
  • Communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing, and work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Prioritise work and manage stressful situations, and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
Requirements
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist or Social Work degree and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW).
  • Demonstrated relevant clinical experience in the drug and alcohol field and specialist knowledge of child protection, domestic violence, mental illness, and cultural diversity.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing, and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage stressful situations; ability to work unsupervised and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
