Position Overview
This is a permanent, full-time role located in Canberra, requiring a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check.

Role Summary

The Education and Engagement Officer is essential in bridging the library's resources with ACT Schools and the broader community. This role involves significant collaboration with Libraries ACT service areas, other divisions within Transport Canberra and City Services, various ACT Government Directorates, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and assess educational support materials.
  • Plan and execute annual public events to enhance library visitation.
  • Assist patrons in the Reading Room and assume Officer in Charge responsibilities as necessary.
  • Contribute to the delivery of services and programs.
  • Provide training and support to staff regarding branch operations, programs, customer service, and safety protocols.
  • Implement and communicate branch policies and procedures as part of the management team.

The library operates six days a week, and this position requires flexibility to work weekday and weekend shifts on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong understanding or experience in curriculum development for primary or secondary education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the ACT community, including its history and current affairs, is highly regarded for providing strategic services.
  • Experience in managing budgets, contracts, project plans, program evaluations, and key deliverables.
Compliance and Requirements
  • This position is identified for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants, who must provide supporting documentation with their application.
  • A Bachelor of Education (primary or secondary) and/or relevant qualifications in the GLAM sector are required.
  • A Working with Vulnerable People Check is mandatory for this role.
