Tax Operations Manager for Managed Investments

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Tax Operations Manager to lead our team in managing tax deliverables for managed investments. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Australian tax, statutory reporting, and financial services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production of timely and accurate tax distributions, tax provision calculations, income tax returns, CGT, and BAS for clients.
  • Manage complex issues and queries, both internal and external, and escalate as needed.
  • Identify risk issues, breaches, and act in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Liaise with clients on key tax matters, service governance reviews, and projects.
  • Participate in prospecting opportunities for new clients and RFP responses.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments, including business-driven initiatives that have tax implications.
  • Lead periodic reviews of key processes, including operating model changes, technology changes, and vendor management.
  • Ensure effective use of systems and recommend enhancements.
  • Effectively manage auditor/client queries.
  • Understand client requirements and guide the team towards efficiently managing deliverables.
  • Evaluate staffing needs while striving for greater efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Post-graduate qualification (CA/CPA/CFA) with Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm experience.
  • At least 10+ years of experience in an accounting or financial services environment, specifically in Australia tax, statutory reporting, or financial reporting for managed investment and superannuation funds.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience required.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills, with a proven track record of efficiency creation, staff development, and people management.
  • Familiarity with financial services and investment products.
  • Detailed-oriented individual capable of performing in a high-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and possess strong problem-solving and resolution skills.
  • Good knowledge of internal systems, MS Office (Excel, Word).

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $180,000 - $250,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including medical care, insurance, and savings plans. You'll also have access to flexible work arrangements and a wealth of development programs to support your growth.
