To continue as one of the most adaptive, effective and advanced police forces in the world, the AFP is seeking suitably qualified professionals for the role of Chief Operating Officer at the SES Band 3 level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the AFP, leading corporate functions and the efficient delivery of business services, and advise the Commissioner on organisational resource management;
  • Deliver systemic change and process improvements across the AFP;
  • Actively pursue opportunities for cooperation, strategic alliances, and information sharing with Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies with relevant policy and operational responsibilities, and with the private sector where appropriate;
  • Maintain and enhance a professional culture based on the AFP's core values, that ensures high levels of community confidence in the integrity, effectiveness and accountability of the AFP and its members;
  • Build and maintain relationships with multiple senior stakeholders including the Deputy Commissioners and key external stakeholders;
  • Develop and enhance strategies in accordance with national programs and priorities, including strategic operational leadership, conceptual development, continuous improvement and quality assurance, resource management and people development.

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian Citizen;
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field will be favourably regarded;
  • Strong financial management experience and substantial experience in leading major organisational transformation at the most senior level with Commonwealth or state and territory agencies;
  • Positive Vetting (PV) security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
