Embark on a unique career journey as a Mechanical Engineer Submariner with the Australian Defence Force. You'll have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and work as part of a high-performing engineering team that manages the operation and maintenance of advanced submarines.

As a Gap Year Mechanical Engineer Submariner, you'll gain hands-on experience shadowing experienced engineers and contribute to the success of the submarine's mission. You'll be exposed to a range of engineering systems, including battery plant management, propulsion, power generation, and ventilation.

This role is perfect for individuals looking to gain valuable work experience and develop their skills in a dynamic and challenging environment. You'll be supported by professional Navy personnel and have the opportunity to tour Navy's shore establishments and experience life at sea.

During your training, you'll complete a 15-week course at the Royal Australian Naval College (RANC) in Jervis Bay, NSW, where you'll develop your leadership skills and learn the Navy's standards of fitness, demeanour, and behaviour.

The skills you'll gain in this role are transferable to other management and leadership positions, and you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the operation of the ship or unit.

Note: This program is designed to offer workplace experience as a Mechanical Engineer Submariner, not to provide training that qualifies you for the role.
