Electronics Engineer Submariner Role

As an Electronics Engineer Submariner with the Australian Defence Force, you'll embark on a unique and challenging journey that combines advanced Navy systems with the thrill of life at sea.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the operation of the submarine's complex systems, including radar, sonar, communication, navigation, and combat systems.
  • Shadow experienced Engineers to learn about their duties, such as overseeing teams of technicians, coordinating tasks, and keeping Officer of the Day duties.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge in electronics and engineering.
  • Collaborate with Navy personnel to ensure the smooth operation of the submarine's systems.

Training and Development:

You'll begin your journey at the Royal Australian Naval College (RANC), HMAS Creswell in Jervis Bay, NSW, where you'll complete a 15-week course alongside other new Navy officers. This will provide you with a solid foundation in Navy standards, leadership, and teamwork.

Throughout your time as an Electronics Engineer Submariner, you'll have opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge in areas such as:

  • Electronics and engineering principles
  • System design and integration
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Leadership and teamwork

What You'll Gain:

As an Electronics Engineer Submariner, you'll gain valuable experience and skills that are transferable to other management and leadership positions. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to the operation of the submarine and make a real difference in the Navy's mission.
