Consumer Care Specialist

This role will champion the interests and well-being of consumers living in residential aged care facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Contribute insights from their own lived experience to clinical oversight and quality improvement discussions.
- Collaborate with Clinical Quality and Safety Committee members to ensure clinical governance policies align with consumer-centered care needs.
- Facilitate interactions between CQSC members and consumers to promote effective communication.
- Develop a culture of trauma-informed care and recovery among older adults experiencing homelessness.
- Represent consumer needs and suggestions through appropriate channels.
- Build connections with community organizations, peak groups, and stakeholders addressing homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse issues.
- Organize and participate in events to raise awareness about mental health concerns.
- Lived experience or experience supporting someone with homelessness, mental illness, and/or substance abuse.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills for effective representation of consumer perspective.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with consumers.
- Empathy, calmness, patience, and a commitment to being trauma-informed and responsive in approach of engagement.
