The role of a Business Intelligence Data Developer at DLA Piper is to play a crucial part in shaping the future of our Finance team. As a key member of our Brisbane office, you will be responsible for understanding and refining the flow and processing of data within our Finance BI landscape.

This involves working closely with our Business Intelligence Technology Leader, other Data Developers, Visualisation and End-User Reporting Developers, Product Management, and Finance teams to drive innovation and excellence. You will provide technical input to the development of the Insight roadmap, contributing knowledgeable insights to enhance its capabilities.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing significantly to the robustness and accuracy of the Insight data process, ensuring seamless integration from source data ingestion to presentation in reporting mechanisms.
  • Maintaining extant data processes under the guidance of the BI Data Lead to ensure efficiency, performance, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Enhancing existing data processes to accommodate evolving business needs.
  • Developing new data processes to support emerging business requirements.
  • Assisting in refining Agile Stories related to data process development.
  • Ensuring effective handover of support processes across time zones.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A strong background in data manipulation, SQLScript programming, star schema data structures, and data modeling for reporting.
  • Experience in building SAP calculation views to support reporting tools like Business Objects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Sound knowledge of SAP HANA, its implementation, and exploitation within a SUSE Linux environment.
  • Experience with HANA in Azure as a native application.
  • Ability to work effectively as a remote team member, representing your team to local user communities.
  • Familiarity with Python, particularly in a HANA environment, would be advantageous.
  • An ability to translate business issues into clear technical solutions.
  • Practical experience in Scrum Agile development and delivering against regular Sprint cadences.
  • Capability to perform code reviews.
  • A good understanding of integrating external data sources into the BI architecture.
  • Knowledge of Business Objects and SAP HANA integration would be beneficial.
  • A solid grasp of related disciplines like Master Data management (MDM), Metadata Management, and Data Governance.
  • Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, infrastructure, and operations.
  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for developed solutions and team involvement.

We offer a competitive salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
