About this role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Grounds and Facilities Officer.

The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining the school grounds and facilities, including conducting minor repairs and maintenance, waste management, and ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of school grounds and facilities
  • Conducting minor repairs and maintenance (reactive and planned)
  • Waste management
  • Liaising with internal and external personnel on repair and maintenance issues

Further responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and beautification of school grounds and gardens
  • An ability to work independently in maintaining school grounds and facilities
  • Good communication skills with staff and students

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated ability to maintain grounds and facilities, and has proven experience working with machinery, including maintenance and record keeping.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain grounds and facilities
  • Ability to conduct minor repairs and maintenance (reactive and planned)
  • Proven experience working with machinery, including maintenance and record keeping
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment
  • Maintenance and beautification of school grounds and gardens
  • An ability to work independently in maintaining school grounds and facilities
  • Good communication skills with staff and students

Please note that salary rate shown is reflective of the current classification range.

This is a progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to a classification with eligibility for progression to a higher level once specific criteria have been met.

About Narangba State Special School

Narbethong is a small, unique school which provides specialist teaching for students with vision impairment. We are located in Brisbane.

Eleven of our teaching staff have specific university qualifications in teaching vision impairment. Other teachers have gained thorough understanding through guidance and professional development over their years of working at the school.
