Underwriting Supervisor Position

This role is accountable for the leadership and management of an underwriting service team. The successful candidate will have a focus on ensuring broker partners are being effectively serviced, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with them, as well as developing, training, and mentoring the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring underwriters meet productivity and turnaround time/service-based targets;
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with broker partners;
  • Working with internal stakeholders to ensure delivery of business objectives;
  • Critically reviewing reports to ensure the underwriting service team meets required targets;
  • Anticipating problems and evaluating risk management activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • People management and support experience, with expertise and technical knowledge in strata or property/ISR/business package insurance either in underwriting or broking;
  • An in-depth understanding of legislation and policy frameworks;
  • Advanced consultation, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders;
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills;
  • Effective people management skills, including training and developing staff.
