Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Food Technology teacher to join our team at a highly regarded Catholic secondary school in Point Cook.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver engaging and practical lessons in a modern, well-equipped kitchen setting, working with students from years 8-10 and dedicated assistant staff.

The school is renowned for its strong leadership, supportive staff culture, and state-of-the-art facilities, creating a dynamic environment where both students and educators thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive food technology curriculum in alignment with educational standards and objectives for students in years 7 and 10.
  2. Create engaging and informative lesson plans that cover various aspects of food technology, including cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
  3. Instruct students on proper food safety and hygiene practices, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  4. Teach students how to safely and effectively use kitchen equipment, including ovens, stovetops, knives, and other culinary tools.
  5. Integrate nutrition education into the curriculum, educating students about the nutritional value of foods and promoting healthy eating habits.
  6. Stay updated on current trends in the food industry, incorporating relevant and contemporary practices into the curriculum.
  7. Establish and maintain a positive and organized learning environment in the kitchen, managing student behaviour effectively.
  8. Collaborate with other food technology teachers to enhance the overall culinary education experience.
Requirements
  • A degree in Food Technology or related field.
  • Valid VIT registration.
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Catholic Accreditation favourable but not essential.
  • Experience in Food Technology in Australia advantageous, however graduates welcome to apply.
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding and appreciation of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions.
