About the Opportunity

The City of Canterbury Bankstown is seeking an experienced Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for assessing engineering aspects of Subdivision Applications, Development Applications and Subdivision Works Certificates.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing engineering aspects of Subdivision, Development Applications and Construction Certificates;
  • Supervising civil construction works associated with subdivisions and large developments;
  • Providing advice to developers, Council, consultants, contractors and the public on development engineering matters;
  • Issuing construction certificates for drainage, road and subdivision works;
  • Ensuring that appropriate amendments and conditions are imposed on applications to ensure a satisfactory engineering standard of development;
  • Preparing assessment reports and conditions within adopted Council timeframes;
  • Checking Subdivision Plans for engineering requirements;
  • Liaising with Public Authorities and Government Departments on matters relating to developments;
  • Taking responsibility for assessing land development jobs;

You Will Have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related field;
  • Experience in engineering aspects of land development, including civil engineering design and construction associated with urban development in relation to roads, drainage and traffic car parking layout assessment;
  • Experience in managing erosion and sediment control and traffic management around construction sites;
  • Knowledge and application of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, 1979 and other relevant legislation as it relates to development engineering matters;
  • Development control experience in relation to the assessment of Development Applications and Construction Certificate matters;
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering computer software including relevant programs for hydrology and hydraulics such as DRAINS, MUSIC & HECRAS;
  • Experience in applying flood management and water quality principles associated with land management and development;
  • Negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of Engineering standards, DCP adopted and applicable Council policies;
