Job Description:

The ideal candidate will lead governance, legal and risk functions for a modern local government. They will drive effective decision-making and ensure transparency throughout the organization.

  • Maintain and enhance existing governance frameworks to support organizational success.
  • Manage internal audit processes, provide legal oversight, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead policy review, delegations, insurance management, councillor support, and elections coordination.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior executives, manage resources, and deliver mandatory training to staff, councillors, and volunteers.
Requirements:
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in governance or business, or possess extensive relevant local government experience.
  • Proven skills in governance, investigations, GIPA, Public Interest Disclosures, risk, and insurance.
  • Be a practical leader who meets statutory timeframes, manages budgets and staff, and holds a Class C driver's licence.
