Australian Defence Subcontractor Project Lead

Description:

We're seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a multi-year Defence program delivering an enterprise Health Knowledge Management (HKM) System.

The HKM System will improve clinical decision-making for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

  • Assess and verify supplier capabilities, performance, and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Manage supplier communication, issue escalation, and status reporting to Program leadership.
  • Oversee supplier cost, schedule, technical, and quality baselines, identifying risks and performance gaps.
  • Support subcontract changes and provide recommendations on supplier contract modifications.
  • Lead planning and execution of the Australian Industrial Capability (AIC) Plan, including reporting and Local Industry Activity outcomes.

You'll work closely with the Commercial Manager and Solution Lead to integrate supplier efforts and deliver the HKM System. Using your Defence experience, you'll mentor suppliers to operate effectively within Defence frameworks and drive successful program outcomes.

This role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, the ability to build trust and communicate effectively at all levels.

Required Skills:
  • Proven experience applying project management methodologies (e.g. PMI, Agile, PRINCE2).
  • Solid technical understanding to evaluate supplier deliverables and contribute to technical discussions and documentation.
  • Knowledge of subcontracting principles, including finance, contract types, scheduling, and earned value management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; Defence sector experience is highly regarded.
