Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely and Efficiently Manage the Workshop: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fabrication workshop, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment for all employees.
  • Lead and Supervise a Team: Lead and supervise a team of up to 20 tradespeople, apprentices, trades assistants, and contractors, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Attend Production Meetings: Attend weekly production meetings to ensure adherence to the manufacturing schedule and to discuss project progress with the projects team and workshop manager.
  • Ensure Quality Standards: Ensure that all products leaving the workshop meet our company's quality standards, adhering to strict safety and quality protocols.
  • Liaise with Department Supervisors: Liaise with department supervisors and the project manager to meet production targets and to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Allocate Resources: Allocate staff and resources effectively to meet delivery commitments, prioritizing tasks and managing workload to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Provide Clear Instructions: Provide clear instructions for assembly and mentor employees to develop their skills, ensuring that all employees are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
  • Oversee Training and Development: Oversee the training of apprentices and maintain safe work practices at all times, ensuring that all employees are aware of and adhere to our company's safety protocols.
  • Foster a Positive Team Culture: Foster a positive team culture in the workshop, managing employee performance and providing support to ensure that all employees are motivated and engaged.
Requirements:
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in heavy steel fabrication is essential, with a strong understanding of the industry and its challenges.
  • Leadership and Supervisory Skills: Strong leadership and supervisory skills are required, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of employees.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, with the ability to work effectively with employees, department supervisors, and the project manager.
  • Ability to Prioritize Tasks: The ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively is essential, with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to Safety and Quality: A strong commitment to safety and quality standards is required, with the ability to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Previous Experience in Mentoring and Training: Previous experience in mentoring and training employees is advantageous, with the ability to develop and implement training programs to support employee development.
