Cost Estimator Leader Role

We are seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to lead and deliver cost estimating services. This role will support the team with implementing and maintaining estimating systems and functions on projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a service-provider culture within Estimating, ensuring strength and integrity in decision-making.
  • Assist project delivery by preparing thorough cost estimates with high accuracy throughout the project life cycle.
  • Maintain consistency in cost estimates produced for the business, adhering to standard procedures.
  • Collaborate with other groups to prepare cost estimates for project development.
  • Foster relationships with stakeholders and enhance knowledge sharing.
  • Lead conceptual, OOM, PFS, DFS, and Definitive Estimates as required.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams and other areas of the business.
  • Participate in TEG reviews as needed.
  • Develop others through training and mentoring.
Required Skills:
  • 10+ years' experience in major project estimating, with specialization in process plants.
  • Technical understanding through a degree in engineering, construction trade qualification, quantity surveying, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Knowledge of the engineering and construction industries.
  • Familiarity with estimating software systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Able to communicate accurate and precise information.
  • In-depth knowledge of estimating principles and industry best practices.
  • Analytical data skills.
  • Self-motivated and reliable team player.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Estimating experience from resource mining and infrastructure construction backgrounds.
  • Well-versed in bulk earthworks first principles estimating.
  • Advanced working knowledge of project management processes and tools.
  • Understanding benchmarking in a mining environment.
  • Knowledgeable in best practice people management.
  • Strong understanding of economic principles affecting costs.
