Government Legal Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Compliance Officer to join our team in Melbourne.
About the Role
- Manage the legal compliance register within the organisational framework.
- Provide expert advice and implement controls related to legislative and regulatory obligations.
- Develop processes and tools to ensure staff awareness of legislative and regulatory developments, compliance with obligations, and tracking, auditing, and reporting on compliance matters to senior management.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure staff compliance with obligations.
- Drive a culture of compliance through proactive engagement with stakeholders.
- Monitor regulatory changes and review policies and procedures for compliance.
- Prepare compliance reports for senior management.
- Administer the organisational compliance system, including monitoring alerts and running reports.
- Provide reports to inform decision making, including work progress and workflow projections.
- Advise management on compliance with laws and regulations, conduct regular audits to identify risks, create action plans in response to vulnerabilities, and conduct investigations.
Your Requirements
- Hold a degree in law or a related field.
- Have relevant experience in a legal compliance role, preferably in a government organisation.
- Have a strong understanding of legal compliance frameworks and regulations.
- Possess excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
