Senior Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic, high-level advice on our operations by performing mathematical modelling and statistical analysis based on complex data extractions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mathematical modelling, statistical analysis, and the ability to navigate and utilise complex corporate data information systems using Microsoft SQL Server Studio and Microsoft Excel. They will also possess strong research and analytical skills for investigating issues and analysing trends associated within correctional environments.

A key aspect of this role will be to ensure that strategic decision-making and planning is informed by accurate, in-depth data analysis. This will involve developing, implementing and co-ordinating sourcing of relevant datasets and mechanisms to collate and analyse (complex and comprehensive) data that forms various reports for modelling or options for strategic infrastructure or asset requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate your ability to effectively problem-solve, negotiate, and motivate others to co-operate to resolve data / work priority conflicts to ensure data is received in time for thorough interpretation and contextually accurate analysis.

You will also be required to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior management, to source, talk to or represent data that will support decision making options for inclusion in documentation and reports created for the business unit.

In addition, you will need to maintain own level of knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures relevant to identified corporate business functions in the context of the correctional system, in addition to emerging issues and trends impacting corrective services as this relates to the artefact formation.

The successful candidate will have formal qualifications in statistics, mathematics or data science (or a related discipline) and/or equivalent experience. They will also possess high level written and interpersonal communication skills, particularly the ability to prepare complex and sensitive reports, briefings, policy papers and submissions.
