Senior Data Analyst

As our Senior Data Analyst located in Brisbane or Sydney, you will work to transition and rationalise legacy data products from our SAS, SQL, and PowerBI environments to a new AWS/Databricks environment. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact and be exposed to a broad range of complex data challenges, given our smaller size compared to major companies, which offers a greater circle of influence. This position will have no direct reports, but as a Senior Data Analyst, you will be expected to support and uplift the capabilities of more junior peers.

Note: This is a 6-month contract.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Timely and accurate delivery of data products across all business areas
  • Reporting, dashboard creation, analytics, insights generation, project support, data extraction, transformation, maintenance, and documentation
  • Writing, implementing, debugging, and testing data queries to ensure compliance with business rules and logic
  • Supporting colleagues and fostering a collaborative environment focused on knowledge sharing and teamwork
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including business leaders, subject matter experts, data engineers, analysts, testers, and delivery teams

Qualifications and skills:

  • Approximately 5 years of experience in data or technical analysis, with a focus on understanding requirements and data mapping documentation
  • Strong proficiency (~5 years) in SQL and/or Python (or similar) languages, with advanced data manipulation skills
  • Strong proficiency (3+ years) in PowerBI or similar visualization tools, including expertise in DAX, data modeling, and visual design best practices
  • Ability to cross-skill in database programming languages and work with raw, uncleaned data; exposure to cloud environments is advantageous, especially in transitioning legacy data products to AWS/Databricks
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering data outcomes to business stakeholders, collaborating across technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience in finance or banking, with a good understanding of regulatory obligations, data assurance, and governance
